Care Corps’ LifeHouse (CCLH) provides basic needs to those most affected by poverty in Fremont, and in Dodge, Washington, and Saunders counties. With a long history of providing food, clothing, shelter, and services to homeless and near homeless individuals and families, our programming continues to grow and align with our mission of “Enriching Lives by Providing the Path to Stability.” The shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Our emergency shelter is a 24-hour a day 62-bed emergency shelter, providing a safe and secure environment for those who are homeless. In addition to a bed, we provide meals, showers, clothing, and other hygiene necessities. While meeting these basic needs, we are working to empower individuals and families. During a stay, case managers work closely with individuals investing in their future through intensive case management, applying for benefits, assisting with sustainable income, and creating sustainable budgets.

Food PantryOur food pantry program’s goal is to maintain the health and living situation of households avoiding homelessness. The food pantry, which is located at 549 North H Street in Fremont, is open to the public every Tuesday from 10am – 2pm, Wednesday from 4pm-6pm, Thursday from 5pm – 7pm and may be accessed outside normal pantry hours in the case of an emergency.

Life SkillsOur prevention program provides housing stability to those at risk of homelessness and most vulnerable in our community. In addition to assisting with rent and utility needs, our case managers assist individuals and families in creating a budget, securing, improving, or maintaining employment, and applying for benefits. This program allows individuals and families to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency and prevent homelessness. This program works in conjunction with the food pantry and the voucher program.

If you are in need of rental assistance, call 402-721-3125 and ask to speak with a prevention case manager. A case manager will schedule an appointment with you to determine eligibility and the next steps for assistance.

Our thrift store is open to the public for affordable, gently used clothing and household items Monday Friday from 10am-4pm. We receive community donations on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-3pm. Vouchers are available to those struggling to avoid homelessness and those successfully gaining independence from having been homeless. Voucher redemption is done on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during store hours.

Rapid ReHousing places priority on moving a family or individual experiencing homelessness into sustainable housing as quickly as possible.

Transitional housing is designed to provide homeless individuals and families with the interim stability and support to successfully move to, and maintain, stable housing. This program may assist with rent and utilities with accompanying supportive services.

Permanent supportive is housing with rental and utility assistance paired with supportive services to assist homeless persons with a disability, or families with an adult or child member with a disability, to achieve housing stability.

All programs follow the housing first philosophy, which offers housing without preconditions but does follow eligibility guidelines.

Our life skills/workforce development program provides practical skills necessary in gaining employment while focusing on the soft skills required to grow in employment. CCLH works patiently with clients to guide and teach soft skills such as hygiene, eye contact, time management, organization, negotiation, and communication. Our pantry also offers a teaching kitchen to allow those accessing pantry to learn the skills necessary to use the food items we offer, such as whole chickens.
